A former M even.

He can play the SS,2B,3B and has even DHed.

Antonio Perez Stats and Graphs - Oakland Athletics | FanGraphs

Perez can and has put up a 4 RC/27. All four projection systems have him in that, basically (one at 3.9). Greater positional flexibility, greater power, greater speed. Why would this be bad?

Rey Ordonez Stats and Graphs - Chicago Cubs | FanGraphs

Rey, well, we've covered that.

If the team wants the second backup IF to be someone not named Mike Morse I would rather it be A.Perez (dealt for Lou Pinella).

If I get four Bench spots I would go with Willie, Broussard, Morse and Burke. They all cover multiple positions and have a solid balance of speed, LH/RH and power. Except Burke. If they go with a fifth guy on the bench Perez makes more sense than anyone else on the 40Man, and Rey - of course.

Jason Ellison and Rey Ordonez make the 25 man

I don't know the rest of the moves yet.

Ellison will be a backup OF for defense and running purposes.
Rey the backum MidIF for defense, I guess?

Still almost two hours left.

Morrow almost certain

Quote:
Brandon Morrow is still here, and from all indications, will be on opening day. Tonight was a bit of a homecoming for Brandon who played college ball here and grew up about an hour away. He is so rookie that he didn’t even know how to leave friends and family tickets. They had to fend for themselves, which in reality is a lot easier for the player. His mom and dad are here along with I believe his college coach.

Sean White the Rule 5 kid has made the club

Woods has not.

Full confirmation of moves soon, as their are some 25/40Man implications.

Joey has a thread on Little Garciapara being DFAed.

In a couple days I will merge the threads on the full movements for the 25/40/DL, but for now each has specific implications to the club.

Default Ordonez Assigned to Minor League Camp! Smiles Everyone!

Mariners reassigned shortstop Rey Ordonez to minor league camp.

Sunday's Jason Ellison acquisition cost Ordonez a spot. The Mariners will go with a bench of Ellison, Willie Bloomquist, Ben Broussard and Jamie Burke.

Joey, I'm hearing different from Rotoworld and so am asking for clarification.

According to Jason, Rey was on the plane to Seattle. The same source that originally told me he was on the 25Man is now saying he's off of it. Best guess is that Ellison is deemed more important than Rey.

"The odd man out in all this was veteran infielder Rey Ordonez, who was reassigned to the Mariners' minor league camp. The club hopes to entice Ordonez to play at Triple-A Tacoma, but Ordonez's first reaction was to pack upand head home to Miami."

You aint kidding. Its one thing to watch him pinch run. Its another to watch him start to give someone a break. Its completely different when hes used to pinch hit. Im pretty sure he did somewhere last year. Wouldnt be surprised to see it again this year.

Our offense isnt horrible, but extremely thin. Its common knowledge that the right injury would ruin this team easily.

Pitching staff desperately needs to be worked on. Morrow, the only other 'close' hope, shoulda stayed in the minors. Its not right to ruin the future of the franchise just to save your jobs.

Look at Sonics coach Bob Hill, whos been on the hot seat two years in a row...hes obviously aware of it, but yet he keeps working with the young guys for the sake of the future of our team. On a side note, I think he should stay one more year, for continuity.

My gut is telling me this team will be good enough to retain the jobs of the jerks running it.

But hey, at least we get to see the famous Slider Felix has. For those casual fans who think the rest of his stuff is wicked...heh...gonna be a fun introduction.
