He's not horrible, or he wouldnt have posted decent numbers in any ballpark last year.

He isn't the answer, but neither is Crisp. What has Crisp ever done that gives the M's what they lack?

What the M's lack offensively isn't even in Crisp's skillset... it's just not. He's making 5 mil a year guaranteed thru 2008 and will cost something more than a hrow away in trade to get him. The Mariners are so much better off looking for a legit option for run production. That isn't what Crisp does, he's never done it and there is no reason to believe he ever will.

Willie Bloomquist is a horrible baseball player. Why? Because the single most valuable thing a non-pitcher can do is create runs, and he doesn't do it. Does Crisp? Nope. Never has, and it's ridiculous to think he ever will.

But Broussard at least has a chance to be a servicable lefty bat hitting 6th or 7th in an otherwise decent lineup.

NOTE: I wouldn't bring back Broussard, either. He's due 4+ mil in arby and can't hit lefthanders. There's no room here for that unless there's a little bit of defensive value there, and there isn;t much with Ben if he has to be taken out of the game when lefties are summoned in.

But again, Ben isn't the answer, either. He's just a better option than Crisp in the M's lineup. His terrible .709 OPS at the SAFE was still better than Crisps last year.

If you guys want Crisp in left field for the M's every night and believe he gives the club a better chance to win just because he's so much better defensively, than I can't further contribute to the conversation, because I don't like anything Crisp does... I even think his defense is overrated.

The offensive questions in Seattle are much greater than the need for a plus defensive left fielder. Think about that.

Dellucci-Cruz>Crisp... and damn near as cheap.

Broussard is brutal defensively and we all know his limitations offensively.

Man RC did Broussard kick your dog and have his way with your sister?

He's not a real good player by any means, but I wouldn't call a player with an .815 OPS as horrible, horrible.

I've seen him play many games in an Indian uniform and the Indians were thrilled that we gave them Choo (whose ceiling is unknown) for Broussard.

Wow, lol.

You'd think Chippy was here for a second there. : D

Seriously though, are the Mariners even THAT interested in Crisp? Is it worth giving up something ridiculous to get a guy who would barely help us in terms of an upgrade? You know how Boston is...they will cry until we give up Adam Jones and Jeff Clement for someone we want. (Ok, not that much...but you get my point).

I don't honestly think they are interested in him at all.

And don't even say Chippy's name. I'll tell you one thing, I will not put up with his crap here like I did over there if he shows up.

I'll second that notion.

I'll go another year with Broussard before I trade anything for a player like Crisp. I'd love to see a trade though... for a starter.

Anyway they can be directed here without actually searching for it? I dont see any mention of this place on the old one.

Jason, I compared three averages for Crisp and Broussard. I have not presented Crisp as a 3-6 hitter. He's a 2 or 7. Broussard is a 6-8, depending on which of the last three season parts you think he is most like.

And you are right Delucci+Cruz is better than Crisp.

I have never stated that the Mariners Front Office is interested in Crisp, only that I think they should be.

[quote=JasonAChurchill;1959]People around the league seem to think Schmidt is a slam dunk to sign in Seattle as long as the offer is competitive...

How shocking that you were wrong. I had already ordered my authentic Schmidt jersey so that I'd have it in time for Christmas.
