Today on the Mike and Mike show, they mentioned that Boras has made it known that Pay-Rod may exercise his option of declining his contract after next season to become a free agent. The reason is to ask for a bigger longer contract.
A-Rod is something......shouldn't say what I think. Whats the feelings here? |

I could really care less what A-Rod does. I haven't had any bad feelings for him for a few years. If anything it ticks me off how a bunch of idiot yankee fans and the media are always all over him about stupid stuff.
If he wants to opt out of his contract, I don't blame him. The Yankees and their fans don't deserve him.

Boras is always predictable, he is always after the last dollar. It will become extremely apparent to him in a short time period that nobody else is going to pay any more than Alex is currently getting. Either he will fold his tent and quietly allow the option to pass unexercised, or A-Rod has told him that he wants a face saving way out of NY on his terms.
I hate the Yankees and I don't root for Boras clients unless they play for the Mariners, so I love seeing Alex Rodriguez lose. If he played for the Marlins, I wouldn't care about him. |

I could see somebody paying $25 million a year on a short term contract. Say like 3 years.

The thing though is to get more than the remaining 50M for 2 after he ops out PLUS the contract that could be signed then.
Otherwise he loses money. Boras is betting that the market corrects within the next three years. It did last time, he needs to be getting while the getting is good.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time. A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement. |
