Mariners may not be done dealing

The club isn't going to trade for Randy Johnson -- the Yankees are listening to trade offers -- but right-handers Rodrigo Lopez (Orioles) and Brad Penny (Dodgers) might be available.

Adding Penny would truly awaken the way I feel about this team.

His FIP seems to indicate that his ERA was a little higher than expected. This move could bump Washburn, Batista and HoRam down a slot and Baek to long relief as a swing man.

So the Dodgers actually are deep with young prospects, they may be willing to explore something that starts with Beltre and gets Betemit and Penny back, as the Dodgers have actually asked about Adrians availability (registration required).

There still exists potential for the team to dramatically improve the pitching staff, but honestly, I'm not too hopeful.

Penny's contract now looks very good value - and I could live with the downgrade at 3b - but would the salary difference mean we'd be sending a lot of money LA's way - or a proper top-level prospect (Jones?)

Considering that both teams have larger budgets I think the deal could be done as a straight baseball move.

There is a part of me that would like to find a way to include a Kemp/Loney/Billingsworth as well.
