We all know his history. You've lived with it and studied it like some broad in your high school yearbook, wondering what could have been.
But now it's time to give up and trade Mr. Jeremy Reed. What exactly is his value? Are you willing to unload Reed now for Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom or a comparable package? Or is he valuable enough to be a main component in a package for a ML starter? |

I'd like to see if he could lure Jennings away - not by himself but toss in another prospect and see if Colorado would take him. I don't know his value though honestly and how eager Colorado would be to take that. I heard that they wanted Jones in return for him which we said no to.

I don't want to see Jeremy offed for random fringe relief prospects.
Every GM out there knows that he's a sleeper who could easily figure it out in the next couple years. I believe that his value is as a part of a package to land a significant addition such as Jennings. If efforts to package Jeremy fail, then I can live with unloading him for marginal talent, but I don't want to see it happen now. |

One thing to keep in mind is that if we do deal him for Lindstrom(as that seems to be the rumor) is that if this guy can be a solid power arm for us it allows us to make other moves with Soriano. And Raffy should have some pretty significant value to teams as a closer.
Personally, I say let's include Soriano with Reed to Florida. They need a closer. Reed+Soriano+ lower level prospect might be able to net us a starter, something with which they have a good deal of. |

If Soriano + Reed brings in an above-average starter, I'm buying drinks.
My only concern with moving Soriano is that Lindstrom hasn't pitched above AA yet... We could easily end up with a HUGE hole in the pen (not that the huge holes in our rotation are less important). That being said, we have lots of pen guys coming through the system... |

Yeah, it's a risk. But if that package were to bring us a starter, I think it's worth it because I think the starter would have more value to us.
From what I've read of Lindstrom so far, he seems to fit the classic power arm profile. Mid 90's fastball, that can touch triple digits on occasion, and decent offspeed stuff. He may not replace Raffy in the pen, but he could be a solid arm. Also with Lowe out for at least the first few months of the season, we need another power arm out of the pen. And like you said, we do have other pen arms coming up as well to replace Raffy. |
