That and Rosenthal seems to think that only a Zito signing or similar level trade will save the Bavasi/Hargrove continuum's jobs.

I'm guessing the Giants have all sorts of washed up has-beens or second rate prospects that could entice Ichiro away. This is, after all, Bill Bavasi we're dealing with here.

Oh definitely. Ichiro has the talent and name recognition that anything less than a Kings ransom is unacceptable.

I would say Brian Sabean is worse than Bill Bavasi(one of the few that is).

So maybe the stupidity would cancel each other out?

with the zito signing i'd say ichiro-to-sf just got more likely. their offense is garbage but their staff looks set for a few years.

How would the Zito deal affect Seattle in such a way that the club here would get rid of their only truly marketable star? Also, SF still doesn't have any pitching depth, and that is the Mariners biggest need. I don't see dealing Ichiro for pitching to be an acceptable contingency plan.

I would need all of Lowry, Cain, and Sanchez to even think about it. __________________ I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time. A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement.
