Default Rosenthal - Ichiro to SanFran speculation?

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6274402

halfway down

Quote:
Ichiro, 33, would be just the gate attraction the Giants' need – and the Mariners' campaign to persuade him to sign long-term isn't off to a roaring start.
The real nugget is the idea that the Mariners have already started talking about the expensive extension.

That and Rosenthal seems to think that only a Zito signing or similar level trade will save the Bavasi/Hargrove continuum's jobs.

I'm guessing the Giants have all sorts of washed up has-beens or second rate prospects that could entice Ichiro away. This is, after all, Bill Bavasi we're dealing with here.

I thought those two words were in the filter? Let's try again... Bill Bavasi

Nope, still vomit inducing...

I would need all of Lowry, Cain, and Sanchez to even think about it.

Oh definitely. Ichiro has the talent and name recognition that anything less than a Kings ransom is unacceptable.

I repeat. This is Bill Bavasi the Giants would be dealing with here. Not some competent General Manager who actually gets value for value.

Did you guys forget?

Are you kidding me? He cant trade Ichiro now!

Wait until he gets into one of those slumps so we can get the least value possible. After all, its the Mariner way!

I would say Brian Sabean is worse than Bill Bavasi(one of the few that is).

So maybe the stupidity would cancel each other out?

Default zito

with the zito signing i'd say ichiro-to-sf just got more likely. their offense is garbage but their staff looks set for a few years.

How would the Zito deal affect Seattle in such a way that the club here would get rid of their only truly marketable star? Also, SF still doesn't have any pitching depth, and that is the Mariners biggest need. I don't see dealing Ichiro for pitching to be an acceptable contingency plan.
