Default Cooperstown Debate: Ichiro

Who’ll be the first player to wear the “S” of the Seattle Mariners into Cooperstown?Anyone? There will be choices aplenty by the end of the next decade: Ken Griffey Jr., Randy Johnson, Alex Rodriguez, Ichiro Suzuki, even Lou Pinella if you’re paying attention. And yet, all but [...]

LOL. Good one.

I latched on to the final (in the piece) "Considering all of the above, one would think that Ichiro’s final four or five seasons in Seattle will be spent cementing his place in baseball’s Hall of Fame."

So, sure, if he ends his baseball career with the M's, and continues to have success through those years (wondering about post-season; nay, World Series experience: it's an issue for any HoF candidate), yeah, potential first Mariner (after Niehaus) Hall of Famer.

Still wonder if 'Gar's ticket will be punched.

I can't see Edgar getting in.

I'd love to see it happen but if I had a vote I'd have a hard time voting that he belongs.

I know there are probably less worthy players that are in the Hall of Fame but there are certainly players who were better than Edgar that aren't in either.

Edgar might have gained some recently considering he hasn't been subject to much juicing gossip

That's possible bedir. The players that the Hall is considering these days are from the so-called steroid era and Edgar being clean certainly won't hurt his status.

Hey I would love to see Edgar in but I just think he comes up a bit short.
