I missed the win...something about my company launching a brand new product kept me busy the whole day. Of course that led to a win.
So since I can pay attention today they'll probably lose. Jarrod Washburn gets his second start of the season. I don't expect anything we haven't seen before. The surprise would be if he went further than 6 innings. The young Rays haven't seen much of him but are hitting for a .758 OPS against him. That is mainly fueled by Carlos Pena (1.039) while Crawford is their significant player who has struggled the most (.708). Sonnanstine takes the mound. He is immentently hittable. Though the Mariners haven't seen the kid much, they do hit 812 against him. Beltre and Ichiro both only have 3 ABs against, but both have over a 2.000 OPS. Rested members of the Seattle bullpen are Baek and Lowe. Others have been used rather recently and generally sucked. Around the AL West LAAA (6-4) after their win over Cleveland Oakland (4-4) @ Toronto Texas (3-4) v Baltimore

Constantine, I mean Sonnastine, makes a brilliant defensive play to get out of the inning when he got singled by the bottom of the lineup.
Mariners take the lead on singles by Burke, Betancourt, Ichiro and then a sac fly by Lopez. Mariners 2-0

I actually liked the Rays choice to bunt over from second to third. With only one out the likelihood of scoring goes well up.
Plus the Mariners with their crappy bullpen can't afford one run leads.

With Adrian Beltre and Jamie Burke going yard today it has me almost thinking that maybe Texas and Baltimore are good...

I vote in favor of the Mariners not needing a closer in more games.

You're right, they didn't. They didn't have a chance against Edwin Jackson and the Rays.

To think that the Mariners decided not to trade for Edwin...
