The Mariners should be on the phone with Barry Bond's agent RIGHT NOW trying to get the Home Run King in Seattle as the DH.
Richie Sexson is done as a player. He needs to be designated for assignment. Vidro should be the new 1b and that creates a spot for Barry Bonds. I think the positives of bringing Bonds far outweigh the negatives. Besides, I don't want the Rangers or A's signing him: Quote:

Dump Sexson, Vidro and Cairo
The team is immediately better, whether Bonds is added or not.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time. A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement. |

I disagree.
Bonds is a complete distraction and a threat to disrupt. We know Seattle is NEVER going to make that call, but I don't even think they SHOULD. The DH spot should be the third or fourth spot they look to make upgrades, anyway. Try the OF, twice, then 1B/DH. End the Vidro, Cairo and Wilkerson experiments, make Raul the 1B or DH, call up Wlad and Clement and make a deal for a solid all-around outfielder, if possible. If possible, Sexson is covered when he starts looking worse. So far, he really hasn't been all that terrible. |
