A key storyline that will followed is how Bedard does in his return; the performance of George Sherrill so far (1 save); and how good is Adam Jones? There is also the subplot about who the heck is the closer for the Mariners?

I have a feeling that the Mariners won't look solid on these fronts, mainly due to the perception due to Bedard only having his second start.

This four game set gives us a fine opportunity to continue the charge for first place. Baltimore shouldn't be that good this year, and the Mariners offense should do better in Camden than they do in SafeCo. I'm talking about you Richie Sexson!

Game One - Jarrod Washburn v Steve Traschel

Washburn hasn't seen most of the Orioles due to their youth, but he's worst against two of their aging talents who aren't really good anymore. Huff with a 935 ops and JayPayton with a 1229.

Traschel, though ancient, hasn't seen much of the Mariners due to his time in the NL. Vidro (627) and Wilkerson (719) don't play well where as Beltre (880) does. Richie has 14 ABs with 1221 OPS, but those ABs were when Richie was a different player.

They are just killing us today, when Washburn needed a breather after throwing so many pitches we just swung away every time and send him right back out there, and if it wasn't for Beltre's homerun we would be getting shut out.

rally time? still plenty of time left.

Between the Putz injury leading to Bullpen woes and Washburn&Batista having poor starts this series has become a joke.

What should have been at LEAST 2 wins in this four game set is going to be at best a single win.

From tied for first to last place...

These are the games that they need to win.

Not an inspiring start. The offense is full of holes and the Bullpen is junk.

There is plenty that could be done to fix this team, and yet I don't have confidence they will.
