KJR's most recent update just said that Meche has signed with the Cubs.

Either way he's going somewhere else and the fact that the fans of a team that has finished last 3 years in a row and will more than likely do the same again in 2007 are rejoicing really shows a lot.
They have no idea what they are getting. |

What else were we going to spend the money on. Might as well take a shot at a 28 year old pitcher that Dayton Moore feels could be our Ace.
The contract is crazy, but I'm tired of sitting and never signing anyone year after year. It's about time we did something and this seemed to be Dayton's number one target so I'm glad we got him signed.

Gil will never be an Ace, although he might be the Royal's Ace.
Five years is just too many for that kid. The money is high, though not ridiculous compared to what's being handed out. Unfortunately Codered, you're going to spend the next few years riding the rollercoaster that is Mr. Meche's potential. I'm glad you guys got your man, though. That is an organizational positive. |

One thing Meche has going for him is that he is ued to playing on a garbage baseball team.
Make no mistake about it, that is what the Mariners have been the last 3 season and that is what they will be once again in 2007. There isn't even the slightest chance that this team finishes anywhere but last in the West. |
