Default How desperate are the Mariners for "lefty pop" - Brad Wilkerson desperate?

Red Sox Interested In Brad Wilkerson

Quote:
The same source told me on Friday that the Yankees, A's, and Mariners have expressed interest in Wilkerson as well. Wilkerson, 30, hit .234/.319/.467 for the Rangers last year in 119 games (doing most of his damage at home). In his career he has played all three outfield positions plus first base.
Grain of salt caveat, as Dierkes doesn't have a history to go on to know his success rate for these things.

If the Mariners though don't have one or more of Jones, Vidro, Sexson, or Ibanez Wilkerson might make a bit of sense, real tiny, but a bit.

Brad Wilkerson Stats and Graphs - Texas Rangers | FanGraphs

You will notice that fangraphs has three projections now, CHONE, James, Marcel

The average OPS for Wilkerson with those is 774 which isn't awful, and I would like to think if Wilkerson is brought to the Mariners he would make sense if he only faced RH pitching except that he has a reverse split over his career.

As a multiyear this makes little sense as he's 30.

But I could be happy with Wilkerson if it means no Sexson or Vidro.

signing him wouldn't be because sexson or vidro is gone, they are both going nowhere. it would be because jones is gone and only jones

Even if Jones takes the roster spot and role of Guillen, You still have to fill the Broussard role of a LH power bat off the bench. It is hard to believe that they would stick Clement in that role and not have him catching a serious number of games.
