As the Mariners are both introducing tiered pricing (Better Games and Walk Up Purchases will both cost more than standard games) and are raising overall prices, they are also rumored to be the current leaders in the contest "How to lose while spending money" sweepstakes. Currently their bid is a reported 4 years and 44 Million dollars to get Carlos Silva.
Are the Mariners really trying to race the Sonics to irrelevancy?

Cameron has a different take, specifically about this being a profit venture.
For Profit Business Adopts Capitalism And while they might make a bit more money off of this move, they will lose attendance. On second hand, they are BRILLIANT, because most of the people who used to pay to go to the games will now watch at home driving up media ratings. Of course in 2008 the Mariners don't have competition for attendence and ratings, but in 2009 they will Will the higher prices and poor performance of the Mariners combine to give MLSinSeattle the opportunity to open the upper bowl?
