From Geoff Baker:
Quote:
Get it done Bavasi. I would want to keep Brandon Morrow and glady give the O's Adam Jones, Jeff Clement, and Wladimir Balentien for Bedard. Sign Hiroki Kuroda and Geoff Jenkins. Rotation wouldn't look that bad: Felix Erik Bedard Wash Batista Kuroda/Morrow

Did you read the peice, they have no interest in Jeff Clement. He is a redundant peice for them.

I would hope a 3-way trade can be worked out.
Bedard is money.

I think it's pretty evident that there is no way the Mariners pick up a TOR pitcher without giving up Jones.
It's unfortunate but that is the way it has to be. It shows the lack of chips that Bavasi has to play with. Seriously, if you were a GM of another team would the Mariners roster or players in the their system make you salivate? Of course not and that is why Jones is probably as good as gone. |

How many TOR pitchers that have been dealt recently don't involve a player of Jones' caliber?

Exactly. But it is alarming that we have a great young player in Jones but he has to be dealt to improve a horribly weak part of the ball club.
I don't think there is any combination of any players in the system (that doesn't include Jones) that will pry even a #3 starter to Seattle. That is just a sad fact. |

And typical of EVERY organization.
Every org in the Santana talks has been asked for their best player, same for Bedard, same even for Wilis.

Of course they always ask for the best player in the organization but that doesn't mean they always get it. It never hurts to ask.
But bedir, you have to admit that the list of our top prospects is pretty weak. We can't offer any kind of attractive deal without including Jones. It would be nice to be excited about an 88 win season and it was certainly a refreshing change but the fact remains that this starting staff is horrible. It is pretty much baffling as to how the team won 88 games??? |

Yes, baffling, I finally stop predicting 88 wins and that's when they get it
As for packages without Jones, if there is a team with a starter that needed a catcher (say Tampa if Kazmir cost more) Clement would have value, the thing is neither Minn nor Balt need a C
