So is this where the Scout posters ran off to?
Anyway, it looks like the M's are looking at signing Mr. Hothead to either share part-time duty at DH vs right handed pitchers or as a prospective RF. http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/NASA...=.jsp&c_id=sea Interesting move, imho. Another prospective "value" pick by Bavasi, not unlike the forthcoming Thomson move. Since Guillen has been battling injuries for a good year to year and a half, Seattle may now have a bargain on their hands provided that he is able to recover from his mid-summer TJ surgery. Power bat, weak plate discipline, solid D (if his arm recovers, at least). Not bad(!) And taking into account that he is given (hopefully) a cheap contract, this seems to pave the way for a Schmidt signing as they still have ample enough room under their self-enforced budget... If we can get him cheap it could be a good signing. Seems pretty risky coming off TJ surgery. It could be even more of a risk to put him out in the OF with the TJ surgery coming on his throwing arm. Anyone even know if he'll be ready for the season opener?

If Guillen passes physical on Monday, he's a Mariner
1 year $5 million, up to $8 million in incentives with a $9 million option for '08. I'm still not sure I like this, if he can recover from TJ it'll be awesome, but it's impossible to know that until the season starts. |

Two things need to happen in order for me not to have a problem with this.
1.It needs to be cheap, which it looks like it is. 2.This needs to not effect Snelling's playing time at all. As long as those conditions are met, I'm cool with this. Nothing wrong with having an Angel hater on the team.

Seattle is pretty convinced that Guillen is going to recover fully from the TJ surgery, and for a non-pitcher, it's a pretty darned successful surgery.
From what I hear, there's an excellent chance that Guillen's throwing arm will regain at least 90% of it's strength and he will likely experience no lingering pain. |

The guy can play, he's as passionate as it gets and nothing short of bullet wounds will ever keep him out of the lineup.
Just so long as nobody lauds his personality I won't waste your time telling you what you already likely know. |

Im hearing mixed things right now...Guillen said the Mariners told him he'd be the primary RF, which means uh oh for Snelling, unless they DH Ibanez. Other reports are saying hes going to be a DH against lefties. Which is it? |

Personally, if Guillen is an everyday player, I'd put Snelling in left and Guillen in right because Guillen would likely be the better defensive player.
Something tells me that this is either going to cut into Snelling's playing time, which blows, or we could see Brouusard moved here real soon.
