I would really like to add a left handed or switch hitting OF moving Ibanez to first.
The three I like are Fukudome, Abreu (option), or maybe even the other S.Green (option). If its Green, I would like to KEEP WLad as Green and Ibanez have split issues so adding a power RH bat would be good, although if dealt than Morse should get OF/1B time. On the pitching side, I'm just scared. I think the only TOR that will be available will be from Japan, and none of those are assured to be TOR. In moving Sexson I might explore the acquisition of Igawa. Exploring Saito if posted might be great considering who the catcher on the Mariners is.

Leaving aside the starting pitching problems, which are the most serious deficiency, there are some other key areas that need to be addressed.
First of all, Sexson. They have to figure out a way to dump him, even if it means eating some of his contract. They may have to throw something of value in with him in order to get any team to take him - maybe a Balentien. I take Bavasi at his word that neither Jones nor Clement will be dealt. That means finding a place for Jones to play. If Vidro and Ibanez both remain on the team, then one of them plays first base and the other dh's. Which means Clemens goes back to Triple A, since you won't keep him as a second catcher when his real value is his bat. I think it will be interesting to see what Clement does this winter. It would not surprise me if they give him a first baseman's glove and send him to Venezuela to learn. He may be the first baseman of the future. |

Yeah, I wonder who would be interested in Sexson. I know it's all about the right deal, and I know he stunk terribly this season, but is he "done"? (I'm not quoting you, Wiggen; I know you didn't say that. But that seems to be the general M's fan consensus.)
Granted any M's fan with a brain stem got tired of him this season. I haven't seen anything, but was there any excuse -- like aches and pains -- for his awful performance this season? Last edited by Jim Potable; 10-05-2007 at 11:16 PM. |

mclaren blames it on the 4 game snow out in cleveland and fans booing. thats the only excuse i've read
Yet McLaren acknowledged the four-game snowout in Cleveland affected Sexson's stroke more than anyone else's. According to McLaren, Sexson also was troubled more than most by fans' booing. No excuse for M's to keep missing playoffs |
