OK, I'm in the US so a lack of coverage is already a given... What can be said about Steve Stamkos? I don't mean what Hockeys Future or another web site says -- I mean is there anyone out there that can tell me about this kid from what they've seen with their own two eyes?

This kid is good. I live 1.5 to 2 hours away from Sarnia where he plays OHL hockey. I have never been to a game that he has been playing in but i do see him in clips scoring al the time since my local news casts follow how he is doing. I also see him score alot against my Windsor Spits. This kid is a good player but i actually think that he is a bit overrated in my opinion. He wont be a Crosby but he will be a good first liner.
For Tampa i think they should realy take a look at Doughty before going with this kid. If only Tampa could of sucked next year and gt a chance at Tavares because this kid is going to be a heck of a player.

My friend was actually hoping Edmonton woudl tank the rest of the season (this was in late February). Imagine the reaction in town to losign their #1 pick to the Ducks if that happened?
"cocky" and "arrogant" are two things I have heard about Stamkos or words used to describe him even if he is good. But I've taken to the QMJHL stars and how they come off more than OHL players. We've had two come through Tampa (Vinny and Brad) while you can see a third nightly on hockey highlights (Crosby). The Q is considered soft compared to the OHL or WHL, but it can and has produced stars none-the-less
