The Spits traded #1 goalie Neurvirth who had a 6-1-1 record with the Spits and RW Ryan Baldwin to the Oshawa Generals for Goaltender Jakub Kovar and Justin Shugg.

This was a surprise move for me as i thought that Neurvirth would give the Spits a good chance at the Memorial Cup. I hope that this Kovar kid is good and gives us a chance at the Cup.

Go Spits Go.

Windsor Spitfires captain Renaud dies at age 19.

Quote:
Windsor Spitfires team captain Mickey Renaud died Monday afternoon after suddenly collapsing at his Tecumseh home.

He was 19.

Renaud was transported to Windsor Regional Hospital with absent vital signs. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

''This is the biggest tragedy in Spitfire history,'' vice-president and general manager Warren Rychel said. ''Words alone cannot describe our pain at this time.''

OHL Commissioner David Branch gave his condolences to the Renaud family.

''The entire Ontario Hockey League family is mourning this tragic news. We extend our deepest condolences to Mickey's family, friends and teammates during this very difficult time.''

Renaud was in his third season with the Spitfires, putting up 21 goals and 41 points in 56 games this season.

He was a fifth round pick of the Calgary Flames in last year's NHL entry draft.

Such terrible news.

I'm a Person who lives in Leamington just 45 minutes away from Windsor.

I'm a huge fan of the Spits and I've watched this kid play. This is the most tragic thing that has happended to the Spits. They are susposed to cancel the Spits game on thursday. It's really sad news for the players of the Spits as most of them were really close with Renauld. Most of the players were seen crying after hearing this news. Even Ted Nolan didnt coach the first period of his NYI hockey game on Monday because his son plays for the Spits and was really emotional so Ted Nolan talked to him by phone. Other OHL teams canceled their practices because lots of players knew Renauld.

I was quite sad when I heard the news.

RIP Renauld.

Yup it is.

Since that death of their captain the Spits finished off the season getting 21 points of a possible 24. Wow. They have some heart.

The playoffs will start soon.
