Pirates pursuing Jeff Weaver

The Pirates are pursuing free agent Jeff Weaver, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports.

Pittsburgh was quickly out of the running for Jeff Suppan and didn't pursue any of the other top free-agent starters, so it's hard to see them blowing the Cardinals' bid out of the water here. They'd likely have to guarantee him three years and at least $7 million per season to have any chance of signing him. If the offers are close, Weaver figures to stay in St. Louis.

its funny i read an article on pirates that was in local paper they actually made a good profit last year but instead of spending it on the team the owner (a wheeling wv newpaper owner) bought a ski resort with it. instead..lol only this could happen to buccos. Longing for the days of stargell an clemente sigh
