Pens sign (G) Ty Conklin

PITTSBURGH (CP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Ty Conklin to a US$500,000, one-year contract on Thursday.
It's a two-way deal that also pays $100,000 in the AHL.
The 31-year-old split the 2006-07 season between the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Buffalo Sabres, going 3-5-1 with a 3.34 goals-against average and .897 save percentage.
The Anchorage native is 30-24-7 with a 2.65 GAA and .900 save percentage in 76 career NHL games in a career that started in Edmonton.
Conklin will battle Danny Sabourin for the backup job behind starter Marc-Andre Fleury. Sabourin signed a one-way deal.

I dont know if it was a good deal because there are better goaes out there who have experience playing in high pressure situations like the playoffs. That's what the pens needed since Fleury got it done in the regular season but not in the playoffs.

yes its a good money deal but Conklin has no experience in the playoffs. The only game hes played was in Edmonton Game one of the stanley cup finals. He messed up after replacing dwayne Roloson by giving the puck to brindamour for an easy game winning goal. There was hardly any time left in the game.

500.000 Dollers For Ty Conklin I Would Do That Anyday VERY Good Deal But Everyone Makes Mistakes He Just Made A One In The Playoffs Its Not Becasue He Sucks Hes Becasue It Was The Frist Playoff Game He Played And The BIGGEST GAME OF THE YEAR Can He Was Scard And He Just Give It To Brindamour!!

I Think Conklin Got Rip Will Only $500.000 Dollers For 1 Year Hes Better Then That!!!

Thats what im sying that the pens need Experience in goal and like you said Conklin doesn't have it.
