Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes signed goaltender David Aebischer to a one-year contract on the Thursday.
Aebischer, 29, posted a 13-12-3 record with a 3.17 goals against average in 32 games with Montreal last season after being acquired from Colorado for Jose Theodore in March, 2006. "With the signing of David Aebischer we have taken the next step in creating depth at the goaltending position," said general manager Don Maloney. In six NHL seasons, Aebischer has collected a record of 106-73-12, a 2.51 goals against average and a .912 save percentage in 213 career games with Colorado and Montreal. ![]() Finally he is off Montreal Since we didnt need him anymore with Huet, Halak, Price and Danis.

Im glad hes gone because he never played consistant hockey in montreal.

Lets see. he doesnt know what positioning is and cant stop pucks very well. Hmmmmmmm, hes a great goalie.

I'm not sure Aebi is a #1 goalie either, but then again, maybe he just hasn't taken advantage of his opportunites to this point. This could definitely be a solid move by the Yotes front office. Time will tell I suppose.

but he got replaced by Budaj for a little bit too in Colarado.
