Third baseman Goldie Rapp was injured while diving headfirst into the concrete bench in the St. Louis dugout in pursuit of a foul ball. 1922: Pitcher Tom Sullivan hits a home run in his major-league debut -- only the second Phillie hurler to do so. It couldn't make up for his pitching performance, though: in 6 2/3 innings of relief, he allowed 11 runs on 15 hits and 2 walks. 1960: Reds pitcher Raul Sanchez hits Phils pitcher Gene Conley with a pitch -- the third Phillie batter to be hit in the inning 1999: Mike Piazza lines into a triple-play at the Vet.
