1914: A 10th inning run gave the Athletics a 2-1 game victory in the deciding game of the 1914 city series.
1973: Larry Christenson makes his major-league debut, throwing a complete-game victory vs. the Mets
1981: More than 60,000 fans show up for the home opener and watch the Phillies raise the championship banner and the players get their world series rings. Jim Bunning throws out the first ball, which was dropped from a helicopter by Dick Meltzer. Steve Carlton picks up the victory in the 5-1 win over the Pirates
1981: Mike Schmidt and George Brett appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated
1983: Trailing 9-6 in the bottom of the 9th, Bo Diaz beats the Mets with a grand slam for a 10-9 win
1995: The major-league Phillies open the post-strike exhibition season with a 5-4 win over Toronto.
2003: The Phils score 13 runs in the 4th inning -- but none in any other frame -- in a victory over the Reds. The Phillies drew 8 walks in that inning.
