Phillies at the plate: Philadelphia scored three runs apiece in the ninth and 10th innings. Outfielder Michael Bourn was in the middle of each rally, hitting an RBI triple in the ninth and an RBI single in the 10th. Ryan Howard smashed a two-run double off Tim Wakefield in the top of the first. Greg Dobbs belted a two-run homer against Joel Pineiro in the fifth.

Red Sox at the plate: Chad Spann drove in two runs in the ninth inning to send the game to extras. Mike Lowell crushed his first home run of the spring, a three-run shot in the fifth inning. Wily Mo Pena and Doug Mirabelli contributed RBI singles in a two-run fourth. Prospect Brandon Moss belted a solo homer to center in the third. David Murphy laced an RBI single in the ninth.

Phillies on the mound: Adam Eaton allowed a hit and a run over three innings and struck out two. Jeff Farnsworth pitched the ninth, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks.

Red Sox on the mound: Wakefield allowed three hits and two runs over two innings of work, striking out two. Fellow starter Jonathan Papelbon pitched two innings out of the bullpen, striking out four and not allowing a baserunner. In two-thirds of an inning, Manny Delcarmen allowed three runs, three hits and one free pass in the ninth.

Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 0-3-1; Phillies 2-1
