You guys really did a number on the Preds on this deal:
"Sources tell TSN the Nashville Predators have agreed to trade Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent, a first round pick and a third round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Peter Forsbeg." hAny GM who is aware o the history of Peter Forsberg won't offer much more than a player and a pick -- mid round. |

It was a good trade for both sides. Philly got better for the future (which is good because they are in re-building mode now) and Nashville got better for this year and they now have the best chance to win the cup. Also, Parent was trade-able because of the amazing depth Nashville has on Defence and all the young studs that will be future regulars.

Holmgren should get arrested because that was highway robbery in pulling that trade. If the Preds win the cup, then it's a great trade for both sides, but until then, give the edge to the Flyers by a landslide.

The draft is going to suck. Sure the Flyers can get someone amazing with there pick but the overall depth of this draft is not great just the top picks. Nashville's first rounder will be anywhere from 25th-30th overall and the Flyers chance of taking an impact player is not that good.

Either way, I think it's a relief for the Flyers to not have to worry about this anymore. The one thing that always sticks in my mind about Forsberg (other than Flopping and being Injury-prone) is his willingness to "Take his ball and go home" all the time...either by threatening to go to Sweden or, no, to retire.
The fact that you got so much back for him is great. I'm glad you didn't fleece the Ducks!! |
