The Philadelphia Flyers announced Monday that defenceman Jason Smith will be the team's new captain for the 2007-08 season.
The Flyers acquired Smith, along with forward Joffrey Lupul in a trade for blueliner Joni Pitkanen on July 1. Smith, 33, was captain of the Oilers since the 2001-02 season. He has 39 goals and 119 assists in 868 career games with the Devils, Toronto and Edmonton. ![]()

Ya this guy is a true hockey player. Back in his career Toronto let him go for nothing. Tells alot about toronto.

Really. Hmmmm that is not a surprise seeing as back a while ago they sent Souray to Montreal for almost nothing.

Now just this year they let Gomez and Rafalski go. those are a different situation but come on you need to be able to lock those type of players up.
