Default Kevin Curtis signed

Philadelphia Eagles

Quote:
The Eagles and free agent wide receiver Kevin Curtis have agreed to terms on a six-year contract, the team announced Thursday afternoon. More details will follow. The Eagles had Curtis in for a visit last week and worked hard to get the deal done.

Terms of the deal were not announced.

Curtis, one of the most highly-regarded free agents on the market this year, had talks with at least four other teams for his services. The Eagles won out in the end, and now they get a player who caught 100 passes and caught 10 touchdown passes in his final two seasons with the Rams.

Though he wasn't a full-time starter with the Rams, Curtis appeared in all but one game for St. Louis in the last three seasons and caught a total of 132 passes for 1,701 yards (averaging 12.6 yards per catch) and 12 touchdowns.
I like it a lot. The contract is a little longer than I would like given his age (28), but still not a bad deal.

Great signing. He caught more balls than Stallworth, I think he will definitely be an asset in this offense.

at least they saved some face bringing this guy in . i dont think the length of the deal will be an issue because we all know the eagles have no problem letting guys go if they dont feel like they are getting a bargain

I was stunned when I found out they signed a free agent wideout. Considering they said a few days ago they were happy with Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett as starting wide receivers. I think we really upgraded here, even Bethel Johnson is an upgrade over Greg Lewis.

The Eagles have a good receiver group now. With Curtis, Brown, Baskett, and Johnson, they have four receivers that are above average. There not star receivers, but Donovan doesn't need star receivers. Good pickup.

Good signing by the Eagles; while Donte is a more explosive wide receiver you can’t go wrong with a guy who has a history of being able to play week in and week out.

Yeah and the key thing is: Curtis hasn't been hurt if i remember correctly and he doesn't have a history of problems with the law or substance abuse.

stallworth wasnt injury prone like the eagles are trying to brain wash everyone into believing either tho. but i agree at least he doesnt have the league watching him for substance abuse issues

Stallworth was hurt obviously in 06, and I believe he was hurt in 05. I still hope we draft a wideout in the 4th or 5th round.

Seems that Stallworth in fact does have a history of having hammy problems ever since he came into the league.

Also on the Curtis signing, actually the Eagles don't tend to cut people they have signed, they don't resign some and they let others flat out walk but they don't cut that many still under contract, fwiw.
