Wade Redden might be willing to stay in Ottawa after his contract expires next summer, and he might just take a pay cut to do it.
According to the Ottawa Sun, Redden admitted today that he would consider playing for the Senators for less than his current $6.5 million salary. "I don't know what that (amount) is. It's definitely something that I've thought about seeing these guys signing, Spezz and Heater and Fish." Redden told the Sun. "I've been doing some number crunching of my own. We'll have to see how things work out." Already this season the club has signed forwards Mike Fisher, Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza to new multi-year deals. Redden said that he was not sure how much money he is willing to leave on the table in order to stay with the club and he would have to talk to his agent Don Meehan about it. "It's definitely more than the money that's involved", Redden said. "The group of guys that are here are incentive enough." Senators owner Eugene Melynk who was speaking at the 2009 IIHF World Junior news conference spoke about the chances of Redden staying for less money. "A home town discount is very important, but what I am basically offering and what this organization is offering is more than that," Melynk told the media. "I call it a Stanley Cup discount." ![]()

I'm not. I want Ottawa to suffer. The only reason being that we face you guys 8 times a year.
