Default Sens get some good news on McAmmond

The Senators got some good news on Dean McAmmond Wednesday.
The forward does not have any factures after being hit by Philadelphia's Steve Downie in an exhibition game on Tuesday night.
The NHL is reviewing the incident but are not expected to take any action until they have a full report.
McAmmond was not the only player injured on Tuesday. Flyers forwards Joffery Lupul and Scottie Upshall both suffered broken wrists in the game. Early indications are Lupul will be out two weeks and Upshall will miss six to eight weeks.

McAmmond was coming around the net in the second period and had released the puck when he was clobbered by the 20-year-old Downie. McAmmond was taken off on a stretcher.

He has a concussion and is expected to receive further treatment from Senators staff on Wednesday.
The incident set off a large scuffle on the ice and the Senators are angry over the hit.
"In the league, we have talked about hits to the head, about leaving your feet to do so, about late hits," Senators general manager Bryan Murray said Wednesday morning. "The other thing we have talked about is having respect for other players. (Downie) left his feet to hit in the head. I can't tell if it was his shoulder or elbow that made contact, but I don't understand why you have to do this in our game."
"It was a cheap shot. There's no part in the game for hits like that," said Brian McGrattan after the game. "A guy can't defend himself and you take a 40-foot run and jump and hit him. Hopefully the league takes a look at it. Those are the hits we don't want in our game."
McGrattan attempted to get at Downie after the hit but was intercepted by Flyer players. The Senators tough guy went on to issue a warning.
"He'll get what's coming to him next time we play him, that's for sure."
Senators head coach John Paddock was also upset and wondered what action the NHL would take on Downie.
"I don't know what they can do with a player who is probably going to be in the minors, but it was one of those totally unnecessary (hits)," Paddock said after the match.
Downie seemed remorseful when interviewed after the game.
"I didn't mean to hurt him and I hope he's OK," Downie said following the game. "My game's to hit and to finish the check. I'm just trying to earn a spot on the roster. It's part of my game and I apologize for him getting hurt. I thought I got him clean. Once we hit the boards after, I asked if he was okay."
