Default Scutaro, et al to the rescue!

Well, last night showed again just how much grit the A's have. Losing two of their relief pitchers (apparently Duke) and Street to the DL just when the team started to get players healthy again.

Up stepped M-A-R-C-O Scutaro to fill in Right Field, as Milton is still not 100%, neither is Buck, so who you gonna call? Scutaro of course. He stepped in, made some nice catches, stole a base, got an extra base hit, etc., generally sparking the team in another fill-in episode.

Lots of other heroes too, Crosby continues to climb out of his rusty spring self at the plate, DJ kept his hitting streak alive. Shannon Stewart is showing why Beane took a chance on him. Chavez continues to climb up the batting average chart as well. Swisher is Swisher and will be the anchor the future A's will be built upon. And how about Kennedy? Just give us a quality start is all we can ask and he and the others have risen to the occasion time and time again this early season. I hope all these guys that are contributing to this spit, bubble-gum and duct tape lineup day in and day out can be around in September when we clinch and take curtain calls in blowouts they richly deserve.

What will we do when our guys all come back? We don't have time to ponder that, as now our relief pitching is in crisis. Who will close? Can we count on Robertson and some Dinardo to come through? Will Beane bring up Windsor or Komine for relief duty?

Is anyone else on this team hurting and not saying anything?

Let's clean up this little series with KC, as I see the sun has come out earlier today than it has in recent days in the East Bay. Hopefully it won't be as chilly (49 degrees at first pitch) as last night and our guys can relax and play with a little more confidence that a burst of speed won't pull some stiff and cold area of their body. It's gotta be tough out there at night with the wind when it gets down in the 40s like that. Tomorrow's day game closer to this series might be the perfect occasion to play hookey from work and bask in a series win over the Royals.
