The Oakland Athletics have made some phone calls recently to gauge general managers' interest in right-hander Rich Harden, one of them being to the Boston Red Sox, according to one source, and another possibly to the New York Yankees. They have not, however, contacted some of the organizations with the top-end farm systems – the Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers, Tampa Bay Devil Rays – so it is likely GM Billy Beane isn't serious about trading Harden, yet. It's an interesting read. It's also interesting that there's some indication that Beane thinks there might not be a super-duper June through September like has happened the past few years.

Yea, that's the feeling I got too....he's just figuring out Rich's talent/DL ratio in market value at the moment.
And I'm sure he hasn't given up on the postseason just yet. As we're starting to witness, DL time can sometimes be a blessing in disguise (for the fielders anyway). |
