Satisfying game last night...what struck me were the fundamentals (always important when playing the Yankees and not allowing them to beat you with your own mistakes). Duke's heads-up play to home, Eric's ESPN-reel catch, Walker controlling the IF with his presence. Buck's small stretch for glory didn't hurt either... A cold & rainy morning here in Oakland; we'll be lucky if any baseball gets played this evening. |

Nat;
After checking the radar, etc. on KTVU weather page, it looks like most of the wet is gone, and that they will get tonight's game in, albeit chilly. Great way to start this only series with the Skanks in Oakland. Now that Pavano is scratched for tonight against Blanton, we have to get into their bullpen first. That is like their third starter going out. Joe has to be extra fine and down in the zone. We have to strike early and often. Would love to have our guys facing those hardballers from their pen alot again tonight, Farnsworth and Buney(sp?). That is one way to awaken the offense further. Last night was a good start. I was impressed with their Igawa, and until we broke through with the homers and chased him, I was extremely concerned. This pen is unreal. Damon still throws like a girl. Go A's! Later, RDB |

Yep! Turned into a nice afternoon afterall...and the A's have been able to make their first-inning output actually hold into the 7th inning. Blanton holding the line, and Swish not looking half-bad as a CF either.
Go A's! |

Nat;
From the hindsight of now on Sunday night after coming home from the game, you posted that last post when the game was only half way over. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! 33 innings to play 3 games. Skanks are lucky they were here this weekend, have you seen the weather in back east? Yikes, I would not like to even be flying home to that if I were them. Man, what a series vs the Skanks, eh? My wife said the players looked listless out there today after the last 2 extra inning games this weekend. I thought the A's did their first inning thing and that we would chase Pettitte early, but couple of Kielty flyball outs and Crosby weak groundouts in between his errors proved me wrong. Then when Harden left with stiffness, and Kennedy opened the door, that a very nice day had turned somewhat sour, as the obnoxious NYY fans proceeded to prove that for some, the 7th inning isn't soon enough to cut em off. What a great win, and will go in the pantheon of great moments at the Coliseum for the Green & Gold. Start Buck and Scoots full time until they are no longer effective. Go A's! Later, RDB |

Well I won't lie...it was extremely disheartening to watch them score only once in 13 innings. And I'm not even sure today's victory wipes that away...
But hey, it's always a great feeling to watch a group of Yankee fans be forced to STFU ![]() |

I haven't really had a problem with Yankee fans other than the ALDS series games I attended...both 2000 & 2001. Both times Yankee fans were throwing our guys' loss in our faces, extremely disrespectful. One received a beer shower for his efforts....it was fun to watch
![]() I agree Boston fans are the worst....and even tho I hate the Giants I have to admit it's a one-sided rivalry; their fans only come to watch & cheer on their team, not trash-talk ours. |

All's well that ends well, as far as this last NYY series went, eh?
The Sox fans were more desparate for so long that they became much more shrill than the Skanks' fans. A NYY fan from work related that he had the ultimate comeback for an obnoxious Bosox fan last weekend at the A's game, something along the lines of, "I can really appreciate how the Sox felt after winning it in 2004, that's what we Yankee fans take for granted." Last year's opener vs Skanks included some stalking RedSuxx fans that hung a sign for the first Damon game in pinstripes "Looks like Jesus, acts like Judas, throws like a girl." Now that is real animosity to follow another team to another team's park for the opener to hang a sign expressing discontent for a former player. When the A's have their new stadium built and comes time for the first couple of games in there, I hope Beane/Wolff remember and schedule the Mariners and Yankees to come in to christen it, ala Gigantes and PacBell. Trivia question; Who hit the first splash hit at PacBell? Go A's! Later, RDB |
