Default The official Dan Johnson bores the hell out of me thread

You heard me! Aside from Rivercats fans who likes this guy? I say send him back to AAAA where he belongs. Or maybe the NL.

lastexit;

Even though he has somewhat turned it around offensively at the plate this spring, Antonio Perez with the same number of bats is hitting .333, he will probably stick.

Johnson is hitting .294 but will probably make the team at Durazo's expense, because Johnson is out of options and allegedly plays better defensively. Beane has to take the future into consideration I guess, and Johnson is younger than Ruby.

These last few calls on who stays and who goes down will be tough. Not a bad problem to have going in to the start of the season.

Pitching, pitching, pitching.

I agree! The perennial AAAA hitter, which is why I was hoping they'd give one of the rookies a shot in the OF and keep Swish at 1st.

I say let's wait and see how things go with his new eyes. Eyesight can be important when it comes to hitting (or so I've heard... )

Let's go D.J. ! (insert clapping hands icon here)

I would love to see him start, tear it up for April and part of May and then take a free ride out of town in a classic trade-high deal.

From reading various post over several boards, it seems that the underlying opinion about keeping Johnson at 1st and starting Swish in the outfield has 2 implications. 1) we don't lose Johnson for nothing, but would he actually be picked up by another team? 2) the above scenario keeps the MLB service clock from starting on Buck or Barton. If those are the real reasons the A's are thinking about keeping Johnson, well that just sucks. I guess Beane and crew see something in Johnson, that I, or most fans don't. I surely hope he isn't intentionally fielding a team on opening day that he believes is inferior to the team he could field to avoid one of the scenario's above.

I agree with NAT. Start the year with Buck, Bradley and Stewart in the outfield. Swisher at first. Look to trade Johnson for some pitching prospects.

Well, everyone can rest easy, as DJ is out for 3 months with that hip injury.

Now, Ruby show everyone why Beane has always been so enamored with your game. If this isn't an act of the great whatever it is, I don't know what is?
