A's invite Landon Powell to spring training

I was just trolling at the official A's site and I noticed that the A's finally invited catcher Landon Powell to camp. I'd rank him second after catcher Kurt Suzuki on the A's minor league depth charts.

If Powell can get back into shape, he could very well win a spot. Losing a year to a trashed knee really had a bad effect on him

Lots of catchers are needed at Spring Training. Twenty or so pitchers always throwing on the sidelines or on one of the satellite fields. So all the warm-body catchers get invited to Spring Training, even guys like John Baker whose star has fallen into the ocean.

(I'm trying to do my part to keep this forum active, but I think I'm swimming upstream).
