That only helps my Angels this season if Seattle and Texas decide to not show up.

A's just have too many pitchers on the major league roster who cannot be optioned to the minors. Thus they are trying to thin out the pitching staff; like others, I thought they would get something more in return.

With all the 5th-starter candidates flopping their way through the month of March, this makes me miss Kirk even more. I suppose Billy figured a middle-reliever who pitches a few days a week is more valuable than a 5th starter...still I get the feeling Saarloos could've been both.

I lived in Phoenix at the tale end of 2001 and saw one of the best uses of a "swing" pitcher ever with Miguel Batista...now back in Seattle I get to see him older and no longer a swinger.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time.


A few weeks ago I launched my own blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement.
