Signed for under 1.2M$ as well; probably should have signed him for two years or more at an inflated contract. Glad he is in the fold.

OK, I'll post here in our attempt to ressurrect Fanhome.

I doubt the A's will sign Duchscherer to a multi-year deal, ever. He's probably gone once he reaches FA. He has a bad back and I'm just happy he's avoided major down time on the DL thus far. It's going to happen eventually, though. Hopefully, after he's signed a FA contract with another team.

So, Voxhoo, who do you see stepping into the setup role after Duke is gone? Do you see Calero taking over exclusively or still a "two man" setup system? What about an emergency closer? Are there prospects in the system to fill these roles?

I understand the back concern, but Duke has been pretty durable thus far hasn't he?

i would guess gaudin.. =)

calero will never take over exclusively.. not that he isnt good.. but he has his own back issues i believe.. whatever the case it is.. he seemed less effective when pitching back to back days.. and i believe macha even restrained from having to use him for consecutive days too often..

Duke is a terrific asset, when healthy. Pitching is a name of the game and you can never have enough of it. Great pitchers stop great hitters.
