Athletics agreed to terms with RHP Kirk Saarloos on a one-year, $1.2 million contract.

Saarloos asked for $1.475 million in arbitration and was offered $925,000. He'll be a long shot candidate for the fifth spot in Oakland's rotation this year. Most likely, he'll be used as a middle reliever initially.
