Default Opening Day, Pt. 2

Blanton and Matsuzaka going again. Same lineups as last week.

It'll be interesting to see if we play as well as we did last week — does the offense hold up? Does the bullpen look like it did on day one or day two?

I broke down and bought an MLBtv package, so I'll be able to watch the A's regularly for the first time since, well, the late 80s. I couldn't be more excited. So I'll probably be doing a lot of bothersome posting here. At least I've got Nat!

As optimistic as I am, I get the feeling I'll be seeing a lot of games like last night's this summer — players letting foul balls drop, players having four strikeout games, etc.

What struck me as the oddest was the amount of "small ball" Geren seemed to be trying to play. He had Hannahan bunt? He had Suzuki try to steal? That seems pretty uncharacteristic. I'll be interested to see if we see more of that as the year goes on or if it was just a tactic against a pitcher who looked pretty dominating.

Well, so far I'm optimistic too...
We knew this team would have growing pains going in...but at least they'll be more fun to watch than last year. Unfortunately, my relocation from Oakland to the MIdwest means I'll be seeing very few of the games (I have Directv but can't afford the package, or see many games if I did have it anyway) but judging from the box scores and 30-second ESPN recaps, they're the scrappy young A's all over again.
Barton & Suzuki developing nicely offensively, alot of the new faces contributing...and 2 of our starters hurt already In two years (barring another slew of injuries) this should be a very good team.

Oakland is 2010 or later from being competitive.... It's funny to watch teams trade for OAK pitching expecting the number they put up there to translate....
Oakland's ballpark is godly for inflating average/above average guys to stars.
What sucker is going to get Joe Blanton..... Time will tell
