Anyone out there besides me and Nat?
Who's watching the games on Tuesday and Wednesday? Being in North Carolina, it may be the only time this year that I actually get to watch them on ESPN. Even if I have to get up at 6 a.m. to do it. Predictions? The Red Sox are obviously very, very tough, but I'm going to call a split series. We win game 1.

3AM, even in my retail coffee days, that's too early for baseball.

What a heart breaker. I got up at 6 a.m. for that.
Still, they hung in there with arguably the best team in baseball. Blanton looked good and the offense wasn't awful. Hopefully we have better luck tomorrow. A couple of observations: 1) As far as announcers go, the Red Sox are officially the new Yankees. The bias was unbelievable. It was almost like Oakland wasn't even there. 2) The defense isn't going to be what we're used to. With Chavez out and so many young guys in the outfield it's going to be a little different this year. 3) It just wouldn't be A's baseball if we didn't leave like 10 guys on base, would it? 4) I want to strangle Emil Brown! Well, I'll be doing it again tomorrow. Whee!

Yeah, Nat. I know it's early and all, but this team looked awfully good against the world series champions. I have hope for this year.
Then again, Harden could still get hurt, Harden/Blanton/both could get traded, or the rest of the starting pitchers go to poop, but I'm feeling optimistic today.

Me too. And why the hell shouldn't we? Unlike nearly the entire season last year, they were actually fun to watch. There will undoubtedly be some growing pains, but at least we know it will be for a brighter future.
Once again, I have to hand it to BB...mediocrity is certainly not an admirable trait in a sports team. |
