I liked him for the late game heroics a couple of times during the 2007 season, and I liked his versatility as a backup, but I can't say I'm upset with this move. Especially knowing that he was going to be due for a significant raise soon. What I will never understand is the amount of comments left at the bottom of the story that decry BB for getting rid of such a "gamer." One guy, who has been an A's fan since like the 60s or something, said that this was the last straw. Good lord. I mean, for all his late game heroics this season, he posted a 693 OPS. That's worse than his career OPS of 704. Anytime you can get two minor league pitchers for something like that, I'm for it.

I'm with you....it's much easier to remember a game-winning hit than an 0-12 streak, and Marco had more of the latter than the former. Can't blame the fans for getting a little emotional still...mainly because all our other favorite players over the years are also playing elsewhere now.
