Default How to be a great Draft Analyst

If anyone here is looking to be the next Mel Kiper here are a few good tips.

1. Do some homework - You don't have to watch every game all you need to do is fast forward through 2 or 3 games in the player's last year in college. Everyone in the draft is going to have a stand out play or two simply keep those on your laptop and reference them when the name is called.

2. Compliment every guy drafted - Never ever stick your neck out and say this player will not make it in the NFL. Simply look down your copy of combine reports tell everyone the players 40 time and tell everyone listening whether he is fast or slow. If he is fast stick to that topic if he is slow talk about "instincts and vision". Sum it all up by saying "He can be a contributor at the NFL level".

3. Keep every video saying "He can be a contributor at the NFL level" - That when Tom Brady, Zack Thomas or any later round gem starts to shine you can show the video and gloat that you where right. Even though we might be wrong about 90% of the time that 10% is what makes you look like a genius.

To sum it all up you need to be the Jim Rome of the NFL and be wrong all the time but always revisit the fact that you are right once in a blue moon.

No no no....what's even better was today on SportsCenter. "Stick around to see a guy the Dallas Cowboys drafted who could potentially win Rookie of the Year." Ummm, didn't EVERY team just draft someone who could potentially be Rookie of the Year? Wasn't that the point of the draft?!?!?!??!!

Mel Kiper said that as well. Anybody could be DROY, if they have a great camp, they start and have a great season.

Another one:

Never evaluate a team's draft by giving them an F......Just give out a D if you don't like the team's drafting, but never an "F."!

You know Kiper's SC ratings are absurd. I think the range was from B to C-, so no one did exceptionally well or terrible...i dont buy that for a minute.

Some teams did great, some teams did horrible. Some teams you should give an IC.
