Default Dolphins to release Culpepper?

Quote:
The Dolphins will reportedly consider releasing Daunte Culpepper if they acquire Trent Green.

While stunning on the surface, coach Cam Cameron had nothing to do with Culpepper's acquisition. Miami would eat $5.5 million in "dead money" but still save a little cap space overall by cutting ties. The Raiders seem like the best fit for Culpepper if he's cut. Mar. 23 - 8:52 am et

I am not a Trent Green fan at all and if you watched any Chiefs games at all last year it is obvious that his negatives greatly outweigh his few positives. That whole QB situation has been a mess in Miami since Marino started going downhill. I personally think Culpepper can still play and play for at least four or five at his current level. Why trade that for a guy who has even fewer years at his peak.

Culpepper is probably one of the most depreciating QB's in the game. He's got talent, but his stock seems to have bottomed out.

Miami should just work on trading up to draft Brady Quinn. These veteran QB experiments just don't work for them and they need to draft a guy who can step in.

They might not need to trade up, Quinn may very well fall to them.

Green to Miami all but done

From the NFL Network

Quote:
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Dolphins and Chiefs are nearing a deal that would send Trent Green to Miami

The deal has been in the works for most of the offseason. Green is reportedly close to agreeing on a new contract that will likely include incentives based on whether he wins the starting job. The Dolphins are expected to send K.C. the seventh-round pick they acquired for Wes Welker.
I dont see how you can argue with a cheap base salary and a 7th rounder for Trent Green, seems like a low risk, high reward type of deal.

So Culpepper is done in Miami, wonder where we he will wind up

Bring him to Carolina!!! We need ANY kind of QB help we can get behind Delhomme. But Culpepper's price tag will obviously be too high. Funny scenario...Culpepper goes to Oakland and reunites with Moss.

Talk about a fall from grace huh? Man he once was considered in the same league as McNabb, and now he can't even get time on the field.

He was the same class as McNabb -- draft class. The class of 1999.

He's an athlete but the thing that hurts him the most is that he entered the league and had all the offensive cogs he needed surrounding him in Minnesota. He played well on a veteran team in the middle of their window of opportunity. But then the window closed... and the rest, as they say, is history.

Because it's a rumor that he's going to be cut.

I don't know how anyone in the NFC North could think that all Daunte is is an athlete. If Peyton Manning hadn't thrown for like 500 TDs a couple of years back, Daunte would be an MVP QB. He is a phenomenal player when he is healthy.

That's with Randy Moss with him. His injuries are starting to tear him apart.
