Default Grading the 2007 draft

1. JaMarcus Russell: Incomplete. He has shown promise, but it is tough to evaluate him when he missed all of training camp.

2. Calvin Johnson: C. Pretty average and did not quite explode into the league like Randy Moss did his rookie year. Still, loads of potential.

3. Joe Thomas: A. And some Browns fans wanted Brady Quinn here.

4. Gaines Adams: B- Started off slow but has improved throughout the season.

5. Levi Brown: D Wow, he has been pretty bad, even for a rookie. At least he's on the field and not injured.

6. LaRon Landry: B- He started off fine but has sputtered a bit. A lot of dumb mistakes.

7. Adrian Peterson: A

8. Jamaal Anderson: D- He has 0 sacks playing opposite of John Abraham.

9. Ted Ginn, Jr C- He has made some plays but was he worth a top ten pick? I guess if you put him on a better team, like the Colts, he would have been more effective.

10. Amobi Okoye B Having a good rookie year but this cat is only 20 years old. This guy could be a monster when he is old enough to drink.

11. Patrick Willis A: Defensive rookie of the year. He did not disappoint.

12. Marshawn Lynch: B+ A solid rookie year, the Bills just need to add more talent around him.

13. Adam Carriker B- So desperate the Rams started him at DT. Probably would have been more effective if he played next to a healthy Leonard Little.

14. Darrelle Revis B+ Impressive and he held out during training camp.

15. Lawrence Timmons C- Backup who will have trouble starting next year.

16. Justin Harell C- see above

17. Jarvis Moss D- Injured and didn't really make an impact when he played.

18. Leon Hall B+ Making a lot of plays on a bad Bengals defense

19. Michael Griffin B

20. Aaron Ross B

21. Reggie Nelson A. Solid pickup. Outplaying Landry and Griffin.

22. Brady Quinn Incomplete.

23. Dwayne Bowe A- Compared to where Ted Ginn Jr was selected, excellent draft pick.

24. Brandon Meriweather D- Nothing special from this backup safety

25. Jon Beason A Not Patrick Willis, but at this spot, nice.

26. Anthony Spencer C Backup on a deep Cowboys squad.

27. Robert Meachem F. He should get an incomplete but has he been activated for one game? You must be struggling really bad if you can't beat out Terrance Copper and Lance Moore for PT.

28. Joe Staley C- He might end up being a good player, but the 49'ers traded a top ten pick for him. Better than Levi Brown at least.

29. Ben Grubbs B+

30. Craig Davis D Horrible pick and looks more and more like a reach.

31. Greg Olsen A- Very productive for a rookie TE and he missed 2 games.

32. Anthony Gonzalez A- Solid pick. Outplaying Ginn Jr.

Not really fair to grade the draft based on one round. The Packers for instance, Justin Harrell gets a C, but WR James Jones, K Mason Crosby, S Aaron Rouse, RB Brandon Jackson would certainly earn Ted Thompson a higher grade, at least a B+

You cant really grade a draft till 2 years later. It takes some players 1 full year to get used to the speed of the game.

Honestly, it takes about 5 years to fully grade a draft. Wide receivers break out in their 3rd year, quarterbacks are normally drafted by terrible teams, and running backs normally may have one or two good years and they are out.
