Backup Catcher

The Yankees are looking for a backup catcher. They thought they had a shot at Gregg Zaun, but he just took a two-year deal with the Jays after the Jays' talks with Rod Barajas collapsed. Would Barajas be a possibility?

The Yankees reportedly have also asked the Washington Nationals about Brian Schneider, who would be a very nice pickup if Cash could get him. However, I suspect that the price may be high.

Or do we ultimately just re-sign Fasano?

It looks like Mike Lieberthal is going to sing with the Dodgers, meaning Toby Hall will be available. Would Hall be a good choice as Jorge's backup? I think he's someone the Yankees should look at.

Yes, he would. He's a solid defensive catcher that can hit his weight, unlike some of the recent Yankee backup catchers. Also, his strikeout totals are very low for a catcher. Would be a solid pickup, in my opinion.

Fasano is an ok backup but if we got a better backup who could give us better numbers that would work better.
