I'm disgusted the media's picked up A-Rod's affair. As a baseball fan, having the national media give a damn about A-Rod going out with a "Bombshell" only takes away from the game which I am concerned about.

How many players in MLB history have womanized? How many have cheated on their wives? Why is this headline news or why is ESPN devoting extra coverage to this?

I just like to think of Mickey Mantle -- what concerned the press was what he did on the field, not off it.

Alleged affair, John. And I agree with you.

A-Rod should not be doing what he appears to be doing, but why is it the media's business? Do you think it would hve gotten this kind of publicity if it had been another player? I don't. I think it's part o the media's ongoing campign to drive A-Rod out of New York.

Maybe... It can also be taken a celebrity stuff. A-Rod is the quarter-billion-dollar-player and it puts him under the microscope because of it. Worse in New York than if he were still in Texas or Seattle but he'd still be under a microscope in both cases.

I keep thinking his contract that he signed with Texas (and Scott Boras' insistance on big money) are Alex's worst enemies. Under this kind of pressure, it's easy to get lost in sideshow acts and dependence (which can be dangerous).

Well maybe its because he POSES with his shirt off on the only rock in Sheeps Meadow in Central Park, and yesterday was in the WINDOW SEAT of a Boston Restaurant with his wife. He smarmingly looks for publicity and is a tool when it comes to running the bases. Maybe its HIM!?
