Do you Yankee fans think you will see him in the starting rotation again this year? It'll be tough for him to get back in the rotation once Roger comes back. Or is he better off suited as a reliever? |

He was sent down again today to make room for Chris Basak.
There are reports in the media that Seattle is interested in acquiring Iggy. I wonder what we can get back. Hughes and Karstens are supposed to be coming back soon; Rasner is a little further down the road. |

Unless the Yanks pay some of his contract you won't get much back. I'm betting this deal is reexplored during the offseason as it would give Seattle time to try and fix him, something that can't be done during the season really, at least not at the MLB level.
I think that Seattle is a better fit for Kei as he'd have a Japanese catcher with whom to communicate as well as a city much more forgiving than NYC.

What did Contreras do after the Yanks gave up on him?

He'll undoubtedly be up in September, at which time I expect him to be a long man and spot starter.
It occurs to me that Iggy is usually good for an inning or two but may not have enough to be a quality starter in the major leagues (at least not right now.) Given the Yankees' bullpen challenges, what would you think of seeing if he'd be a good setup man? He might be able to handle an inning or two at a time. They're training Chamberlain as a reliever right now (a role I don't think he'll keep for more than a year or so.) Why not see if Igawa can do it and perhaps get some return on our investment? |
