Timmer is an unknown quantity at this point
Default The Hughes Experiment

Well, Chase Wright had one OK start and one lousyone. Now Phil Hughes is being called up and thrown into action against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.

No pressure or anything.

I'm really concerned that it's too soon. This could well be harmful for the kid.

we all know what a bad thing it can be to the phsyce of a pitcher if they get rocked in their first appearance, for his sake I hope he doesn't get shelled.

Are the Yanks panicking by throwing this kid out there??

I mean they just got Wang back and Mussina should be back too. I think the bigger question in Yanks world is their bullpen and the fact that Pettite had to come out in relief twice already, is more concerning.

Hughes faces off against the Blue Jays' AJ Burnett tonight according to MLB.com

Rios
Lind
Wells
Thomas
Overbay
Hill
Smith
Phillips
McDonald

Not the easiest start, but also its not like facing the Red Sox.

Wow, if you were to divide the hitters into the four best and five worst in the lineup you can really do it just based on how they perform vs. Hughes

Rios, Wells, Thomas, Overbay are 6-9 with 3 R, 3 RBI and 1 BB

Hughes was pulled in the 5th

Final line

4.1 IP, 4ER, 7H, 1BB, 5K

Not the greatest, but an average start if the Mariners rotation is your comparison.

The Jays line-up is better then the Sox when healthy.

Well he was doing great last night and then the worse happened..Another injuried starter....Hughes is now expected to be out 4-6 weeks. I know you guys are ready for Roger to make a decision....

Very disappointing to see the Kid get hurt in the midst of a no no.

Yanks need a lot more than Hughes at this point tho

Yeah, but Moose is also 38, so who knows how he'll hold up. Waldman just said that Rasner will start Sunday, Matt DeSalvo on Monday.
