The Yankees announced their 25-man roster to start the season:
PITCHERS (12) -- Carl Pavano, Andy Pettitte, Mike Mussina, Kei Igawa, Darrell Rasner, Mariano Rivera, Kyle Farnsworth, Luis Vizcaino, Scott Proctor, Mike Myers, Brian Bruney, Sean Henn CATCHERS (2) -- Jorge Posada, Wil Nieves INFIELDERS (7) -- Doug Mientkiewicz, Josh Phelps, Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, Miguel Cairo OUTFIELDERS (4) -- Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon, Bobby Abreu, Melky Cabrera Once again, Colter Bean can't make the team no matter what he does. I think the time has come to give him an opportunity or trade him. Ron Villone has been asked to go to Scranton. He hasn't said one way or another yet. Andy Phillips, who was out of options, cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Chien-Ming Wang and Jeff Karstens start the year on teh DL, but the rotation still looks pretty good. The bullpen is deep, although I've never been a big Bruney fan. Vizcaino, IMO, is going to be a significant addition. They've got to do something about upgrading the backup catcher spot. It should be an interesting season in The Bronx. |
