A-ROD WILL GO OUT WITH WHIMPER By JOEL SHERMAN - Yankees - New York Post Online Edition
"(Alex Rodriguez's) last year as a Yankee will be marked again by inexplicable spurts of failure on offense and defense, making his decision to chase the longer-term millions by opting out as a free agent after the season even easier... The Marlins put Miguel Cabrera on the market in July and the Yankees, seeing a first baseman/DH now and a replacement at third base for Rodriguez in 2008, boldly go after the 24-year-old slugger by offering a package that includes Jose Tabata and Melky Cabrera. But the Dodgers, with a deeper farm system and in even more need of an impact bat, give up a huge position-prospect package of Matt Kemp, Andy LaRoche and Blake DeWitt to land Cabrera."

So, tell me who can take on 25 million and a guy that will be despised by fans and looked at as a failure?
Why does anyone with an ounce of baseball knowledge think that ARod will run for cover and opt out like a coward from his contract? |

The problem is his price. His price killed him. Boras killed him. The expectations are outrageous.
He didn't sign that contract with the Yankees if you recall. He signed it with the Rangers and there are only X number of teams that could take A-Rod on with the price Boras was commanding for him. If one recalls, he said before he signed that contract (with Texas) that he didn't want to be a Yankee, he wanted to Beat the Yankees. |
