Yanks Select Phelps

The Yankees selected 1B Josh Phelps, who hit 20 HR for Toront in 2003, in the Rule 5 Draft. The price is $50,000 and if the Yankees don't keep him all season, he has to be offered back to Baltimore for $25K. It looks like Phelps, who has some punch, will have a chance to play 1B and be the #8 hitter.

Not a bad selection.

Gee, I hope he's not related to Ken Phelps.
